Addicted to Adidas

So, as I'm sure you've noticed (unless you've been living under a rock), those old school black & white Adidas Superstars sneakers are back on trend. I had been wanting them for a while but wasn't sure if I wanted to splurge on yet another pair of sneakers. Then I thought about it more, and considering the classic style is only about $75, and I easily spend that in one trip to Nordstrom Rack... I figured I should just go for it. It had become one of those things where you just keep imagining all the possible outfits you could wear with an item, and you just think about how damn good it would look. That's when you know it's worth the splurge . Part of me was hesitant towards getting the basic black & white that everyone has, because well, EVERYONE has them! I always like to style myself in a way that I can call unique and that stands out from the crowd. BUT, these are just classic and can match with everything: jeans and a tee, a t-shirt dress, or a mini skirt and a denim jacket. They're sleek, cool, fun, and laid back.

So, ever since I got them, I've been really into the whole "athleisure" and sporty trend--particularly wearing Adidas (as you can tell from this post). I also went to the Adidas Clearance Sale a couple of months ago... and let me tell you, it was so worth it. It was in a huge warehouse full of everything Adidas, from soccer shin guards, to casual sneakers, to backpacks, to snowboarding boots, and their clothing line collaborations with celebrities like Rita Ora and designer Stella McCartney. I got high top sneakers for $35 and 2 Stella McCartney jackets for $40 (original price $200+). I also found the mixed printed shift dress shown here and the raglan top that Genie of Gallivanting Bean is wearing.

Of course, you don't have to opt for Adidas when it comes to the sporty look. I know many people prefer Nike, however, Adidas has been proving to be ahead of the game when it comes to incorporating the athletic look into street fashion. Although, I have noticed that Nike bought Hurley, so I'm pretty excited to see what they end up coming out with in their collaborations. I also don't think that you have to be wearing leggings and Nike Free Runs with a t-shirt to look laid back, "sporty", and comfortable when going places. I think you can find all incorporate all of these elements into an outfit without looking like you're going to the gym, and in fact looking more stylish. That's why I've put together these outfits to show you the potential!

When it comes to styling this look for yourself, I've posted a few options below! I think a fun cool pair of colored reflective sunglasses are a fun finishing touch to any outfit. I also really like the idea of adding a denim jacket to infuse my typical personal style. I also think it would look great to wear a sporty/cool mini skirt with one of these fun printed tees, and accessorize it with sneakers, a baseball cap, and sunnies!

So, there you go! I hope you've found some inspiration to try out the sporty look for yourself, or if you already do hopefully you got some new ideas!
